A Few Kinds of Blue Microphones to Consider
Are you a singing star? Or an accomplished musician? Then you'll need a quality microphone that can render you sound without any sacrifices. One of the most unique lines used is the Blue microphone. There are all sorts of Blue microphone types out there. Do you know what some of them are? Many do not know, in fact. Therefore, we're here to help in learning about a few that are available.
Now, we bet that you did not know that there are microphones for the different things that you use in every day life. What do we mean by this? Well, there is a blue microphone for your flip phone. With it you can use this mic recording device for all of your videos. There are many things which you might want to capture with this piece of equipment. Students are using these for lectures in the classroom so they can replay the things which they want to hear again. That is just one of the Blue Microphone types known as the Mikey. Also created in the Mikey line are those which are made to fit on the IPod. Another recently updated type would be the Mikey 2G which has a 230 rotating design and is great for mobile recording.
Many recordists know something about the positives and negatives of USB microphones. A few have heard of Blue USB microphones. A very popular one is the Snowball. This is said to sound just as good, if not better than the desktop microphone you have on built into your computer. You get a pouch with it to hold it so that it does not get broken. It is very easy to use as well. This is a simple USB mic which you can use with many software programs on your computer.
Another one of the most popular Blue USB mics out there is called the Blue Yeti. This mic is is probably the sturdiest one on the market and the sound rendered is of a much higher quality than many others. People can use this microphone to record directly to their computer via the USB port. It's also one of the most adaptable as it has many patterns for sound pick-up: cardioid, omni-directional, figure 8 etc. It also has a pad for very loud sound sources and a bass rolloff.
In an altogether different class of Blue Microphone, there is the Pro Audio line. You will find that these are mostly condenser side address microphones. They're for all you recording artists who are top notch where every nuance of your performance needs to be captured. However, they can be quite expensive. Most of them have class A circuitry and have interchangeable capsules as well, depending on which characteristics you desire. These microphones are used almost exclusively for Studio Recording as they are fairly delicate and aren't designed to handle the rigors of a stage application. The Blue Dragonfly is an example of this type of microphone. With this microphone the capsule regulates the sound impulses which you will get.
Seen here is only a sampling of Blue Microphones on the market. If you search the internet you'll find reviews of the entire line which will also help you in determining what it is that you need.

My blue yeti stereo microphone USB cable broke - anybody know how i can get a new one?
I bought a blue yeti stereo microphone for my birthday about 7 months ago, and I accidentally stepped on it and smashed the cable. I know the microphone has a 2 year warranty but I'm not sure if it covers accidents like mine. If anybody knows how I can replace the cable without having to buy a new microphone it would really help me out (10 points). Thank you!
Yes - that is a standard USB to USB mini B cable:

These cables are hard to find in stores in the USA - maybe Walmart or Staples or Office Max or Best Buy. Online is the best and cheapest though. I have bought many of these cables online.
