DVI Switch: Saves Space by Eliminating need for Redundant Monitors

A DVI Switch enables switching or sharing of one DVI-D monitor between multiple video sources. It functions by connecting the DVI video sources to the switch and then connecting the DVI video display to the output. These switches are also available in matrix formats which allow multiple video sources to be output to multiple displays. These devices support display VGA resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 or 480p, 720p and 1080p for HDTV’s.

They have built in amplifier circuits thereby providing crisp and clear images and eliminating video signal degradation. A key feature of this device is the ability to switch to sleep mode when video signals are not available. Control of such Video Switch is done via push buttons located on the front of the unit or via RS232 or infra red remote. They also have a LED display to monitor the status. Working on the principle of plug and play, they are available in 2 or 4 ports with some versions supporting optional stereo audio. These switches are compliant with DVI specifications and are also HDCP compliant. They can output audio and video signals from two or more DVI video sources and are compatible with both Windows as well as MAC.

Most DVI interfaces from devices such as PC’s, TV’s, VCR’s, and DVD’s are supported by them. The different versions of these DVI Switcher devices are ideal for a variety of applications. The 2 port DVI switch supports single-link DVI-I video signals and allows routing of multiple DVI equipped devices such as PC’s to a single DVI display; the 4 port switch allows routing of 4 DVI equipped devices to a single DVI display. This switch is suitable for use with a number of devices including Plasmas, digital TV, TFT, LCDs, Game consoles etc. Since a DVI Switch delivers high quality images preserving the original resolution without any loss in signals, they are ideal for presentations, casinos, classrooms, conference rooms, control centers, remote monitoring & training facilities.

I heard that you can blow up the statues in the corners of the room instead but I've never been able to do it.

So as far as I know, yes you have to swap to Controller Port 2.
